JAMSHEDPUR: R.V.S. Academy, Siroman Nagar, Mango, organised a deeply moving and patriotic celebration, “Raksha Parva – Rakhi Giving to Soldiers,” to honour the valour, dedication and sacrifices of the brave men and women of India’s Armed Forces. The event brought together students, teachers, management members, ex-servicemen and distinguished guests in a heartfelt expression of gratitude towards those who stand guard over the nation.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Nishi Singh, setting the tone for an occasion dedicated to the spirit of patriotism, courage and national service. The ceremonial lighting of the lamp was performed by School Chairman Mr. Binda Singh, Chief Guest Captain Akshat Mishra, along with other esteemed dignitaries, symbolising the illumination of knowledge, hope and the indomitable spirit of the nation.
The distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the students, who presented bouquets as a gesture of respect and gratitude. Special mementoes were also presented to Captain Akshat Mishra and other dignitaries as a mark of appreciation for their service and association with the occasion.
The campus resonated with patriotic fervour as students presented a vibrant cultural programme. The performances included a soulful welcome song, an inspiring skit, heartfelt poetry recitations and energetic dance presentations. Through their performances, the students beautifully conveyed messages of patriotism, courage, sacrifice and respect for the armed forces.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Mr. Binda Singh spoke about the importance of instilling patriotism and respect for the nation among young minds. He emphasised that the freedom and security enjoyed by citizens come with the immense sacrifices made by the soldiers who protect the country.
Principal Mrs. Veesha Mohindra expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the members of the Armed Forces and ex-servicemen present on the occasion. She said that Raksha Parva was not merely a celebration of Raksha Bandhan, but a solemn expression of gratitude from the school community to the soldiers who spend festivals and special occasions away from their families while remaining committed to the safety of the nation. She encouraged the students to understand that patriotism is not confined to words or celebrations, but is reflected in responsible citizenship, discipline, compassion and a commitment to serving society.
Captain Akshat Mishra, in his inspiring address, shared valuable thoughts on courage, discipline, duty and the responsibilities of citizens towards the nation. His words left a lasting impression on the students and motivated them to develop a strong sense of national pride and responsibility.
The emotional high point of the programme was the Rakhi-tying ceremony, symbolising the sacred bond between the nation’s children and its soldiers. Students expressed their affection and gratitude by presenting hand-crafted Rakhis dedicated to the brave troops serving in challenging conditions along the nation’s borders. The Rakhis represented more than a festive thread—they symbolised trust, respect, gratitude and an unspoken promise that the sacrifices of the soldiers will always be remembered.
The presence of serving personnel and ex-servicemen added special significance to the celebration, giving students an opportunity to interact with and honour those who have dedicated a part of their lives to the service of the nation.
The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, acknowledging the dignitaries, members of the Armed Forces, management, teachers, students and everyone whose contribution made the celebration meaningful and memorable. The event culminated with the singing of the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with a renewed sense of pride and collective commitment to the nation.
