The ASISC Zonal level debate competition for the junior category was held on July 7 ,2026 at the RVS Academy auditorium on Dimna road, Mango.
The high stakes event brought together articulate young minds from over 27 schools across Jamshedpur to showcase their public speaking prowess, sharp logical reasoning and critical thinking skills.
The intellectual face-off centred around the highly relevant topic, ‘AI is doing more harm than good to education.’ The participants were given exactly one hour of preparation time without any access to digital gadgets or Internet connectivity forcing them to rely purely on their quick wit and foundational knowledge.
The event was inaugurated by the chairman of RVS Academy Mr Binda Singh and attended by principal, Mrs. Veesha Mohindra ,vice- principal, Mrs. Puja Suman, teachers and students from various schools. Esteemed educationist , Jhumjhumi Nandi, Principal of Jusco School, Kadma moderated the competition.
A distinguished panel of judges evaluated the orators on content, delivery, logical rebuttals and grammatical eloquence. The panel included eminent personalities such as
Mrs. Shanta Bose from St. Mary’s English High School, Mrs. Suchetana Zaveri from Valley View School and Mrs. Sujata Mukherjee from DAV School, Bistupur.
The judges commended the participants exceptional oratory and expressive skills.
After a series of intense rounds filled with sharp arguments and powerful cross examinations the results were declared.
The winners of the competition were:
Best speaker for the motion- Asmita Mallick (Little Flower School )
Best speaker against the motion- Aryan Raj (Carmel Junior College )
Overall winners- Aishwarya Jha and Aryan raj (Carmel Junior College )
Runners up- Srijita Das and Pallavi Mahanty (Kerala Public School, Kadma )
Second Runners up- Swati Sinha and Aditi Kumari (Hill Top School )
The Principal congratulated all the participants and expressed that debating is not just about winning or losing, it is about expanding your horizons, challenging status quo perspectives and growing as rational individuals.
The event concluded with the distribution of medals to the triumphant winners, followed by a vote of thanks and the singing of National Anthem
