In view of the continuous rise in road accidents, a Road Safety Awareness Programme was organised at R.V.S. Academy on 27.01.26 and 28.01.26 under Road Safety Awareness Week. The objective of the programme was to make students aware of traffic rules and to develop responsible road behaviour.
The programme began with a Road Safety Pledge, during which all present took a vow to follow traffic rules sincerely. Students of Classes IX and XI actively participated in the programme. Special emphasis was laid on wearing helmets, using seat belts, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, and adhering to prescribed speed limits.
On this occasion, Mr. Prahlad Ram, Senior Manager, Tata Steel, along with his team member Mr. Tulsi Mahato, addressed the school bus, van and tempo drivers as well as conductors, stressing the importance of strict compliance with road safety norms.
The students presented an impactful street play on road safety during the school assembly. A quiz competition was also organised to enhance students’ knowledge and awareness. Through slogans displayed on chart papers, students effectively highlighted the importance of road safety.
Addressing the students, Tata Steel official Mr. Prahlad Ram stated that most road accidents occur due to human negligence and that many precious lives can be saved if people exercise a little caution.
During the programme, the Honourable Chairman, Mr. Binda Singh, in his message, stated that road safety is not only the responsibility of the administration but a moral duty of every citizen. He urged students to make traffic rules a part of their daily lives and to spread awareness among their families and society.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Principal of the school, Mrs. Veesha Mohindra, expressed her gratitude to all the guests and participants. She stated that “Road safety is not merely about rules, but a means of saving lives,” and appealed to everyone to follow traffic rules themselves and motivate others to do the same.
