Jamshedpur, July 24: R.V.S. Academy, Mango, successfully hosted the Frank Anthony Memorial All India Inter-School Debate Competition 2026 (Category I) on Thursday, bringing together some of the brightest young orators from CISCE-affiliated schools. The prestigious event, held in the school’s auditorium on Dimna Road, provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate their intellectual depth, eloquence, and persuasive speaking skills.
The motion for the debate, “The countries that pollute more should pay a higher environmental penalty,” sparked thought-provoking arguments from both sides. Participants displayed remarkable confidence, critical thinking, and command over the English language as they presented well-researched arguments supported by facts, logical reasoning, and effective rebuttals.
In keeping with the competition rules, participants were given one hour of preparation time without access to mobile phones, the internet, or any digital gadgets, relying solely on their knowledge, analytical ability, and presence of mind.
The competition was inaugurated by Chairman Mr. Binda Singh, in the presence of Principal Mrs. Veesha Mohindra, Vice Principal Mrs. Puja Suman, teachers, and students from participating schools. The proceedings were ably moderated by Mrs. Jhumjhumi Nandi, Principal of Jusco School, Kadma, whose insightful moderation added depth and dignity to the event.
The participants were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges comprising Ms. Amanpreet Kaur, Head of the Department, Jusco School, Bistupur; Ms. Sweta Yadav, Chinmaya Vidyalaya; and Dr. Sudhir Jha, Associate Professor of English, R.V.S. College of Engineering and Technology. The judges appreciated the high standard of debating and commended the participants for their confidence, articulation, logical reasoning, and expressive delivery.
After a series of closely contested rounds, the winners were announced:
Best Speaker: Pragya Singh (Sacred Heart Convent School)
First Runner-up Speaker: Ariana Upadhyay (Motilal Nehru Public School)
Winning Team: Pragya Datta & Pragya Singh (Sacred Heart Convent School)
First Runner-up Team: Ariana Upadhyay & Saina Chauhan (Motilal Nehru Public School)
Congratulating the winners and all the participants, Principal Mrs. Veesha Mohindra remarked, “Debating is not merely about winning or losing; it is about broadening one’s perspective, challenging ideas with reason, and developing into informed, confident, and responsible individuals.”
The competition concluded with the presentation of trophies and certificates, followed by the Vote of Thanks and the National Anthem. The event proved to be an intellectually stimulating and memorable experience, reaffirming R.V.S. Academy’s commitment to nurturing articulate, confident, and socially aware young leaders.
